The Wheel Restaurant
Our brand new facilities at Parson’s Walk offer 3-course lunches and dinners at very reasonable prices. Themed events and special evenings are also on offer. Meals are prepared, made and served by students who will progress on to the catering and hospitality industry.

The Travel Shop
At our very own Travel Shop in Parson's Walk, you can book your holiday in the sun, make hotel reservations and arrange train, ferry, coach or airline tickets. Much less hassle than town centre travel agencies.

A Question of Sport
If you like working out, you could use the Impact Centre at Parson's Walk. This state-of-the-art fitness suite has the latest conditioning equipment, including treadmills, step machines, cycles, weights and much more.

Wigan and Leigh College is based at six main sites in the two towns, all of which can be easily reached using local public transport and are within short walking distance of the town centres.

Parson's Walk Centre The centre has extensive commercial facilities that include a Hair & Beauty Salon, the Wheel Restaurant and a Travel Shop.		The Image Centre The Image Centre in Leigh is a designated "Wella Centre of Excellence" dedicated to hair, beauty and holistic therapy. The centre offers realistic working environments, including hairdressing and beauty salons, a nail studio, a theatrical & media make-up room, spa pool, sauna and flotation couch.

Pagefield Centre The centre has state-of-the art classrooms and workshops in areas that range from Business and Management to Construction Crafts and Motor Vehicle Engineering.		Sixth Form Centre This centre has ultra-modern facilities, including specialist science laboratories, media edit suites, music rooms, a theatrical performance space, art workshops/studios, language laboratory, ICT classrooms, library, learning resources technology centre and student common room.

School for the Arts This centres modern facilities include Art & Design studios, dance studios, performance space, photographic darkrooms, Apple Mac & IT suites, editing and recording studios and a TV studio.

Learning Resource Centres
Our well-stocked libraries contain a wide range of books, journals, CD-ROMS, recreational reading and audio/visual resources. State-of the-art technology centres give you access to Information Technology with specialist staff on-hand to offer support.

Refreshments and Shops
We provide a full service of cafeterias, snack bars and vending outlets, conveniently placed throughout the College. On-site shops are also available for such things as stationery or personal items. Our shops sell sandwiches, drinks, sweets, stationery and all the things you really need. At School for the Arts there is an Art shop where you can buy artist's materials for your studies, at competitive prices.

International Progression Certificate
The International Progression Certificate has been designed to allow learners to develop a broad range of skills, which are essential for progressing into both Higher Education and future employment.

The programme has intakes in September and February of each year, running for one year and six months respectively. It maximises the students’ opportunities to progress onto further courses in September of each year. This is an accredited qualification, which aims to:

Improve English, IT and communication skills
Develop an understanding of teamwork, business and management issues
Increase confidence and motivation
Prepare learners for progression onto higher level programmes

Please note - overseas students may only study courses on a full-time basis at Level 3 (ie BTEC National Diploma) or above. The International Progression Certificate must be followed by a full Level 3 or Higher Education Programme.

Which Qualification?
Find your best route to success

A Levels
GCE Advanced Level courses, or ‘A’ Levels, allow you to study an academic subject in detail and focus on traditional study skills. Students commonly study three or four A Levels at a time, combining subjects that they enjoy or best suit their university / career ambitions. A Levels are studied over two years and lead to many Higher Education programmes.

BTEC Diplomas
These vocational qualification are designed to help you get the work-related knowledge and experience you need to take the next steps to your chosen career. These courses are practical and skills-focused, often including work-related projects or work experience. A Diploma typically takes two years and leads to many Higher Education programmes.

BTEC Higher National Diploma
Designed with employers in mind, HNDs develop a range of useful skills through projects, assignments and practical work. They provide a route to university and, with some subjects, enable entry into the second or final year of a Degree programme. Students successfully completing their HNDs are able to top-up their qualification to a Degree at Wigan & Leigh College.

Top-up Degree
You will find our Top-up Degrees take just one year of full-time study to achieve after having completed a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma. Entry requirements for our Degree programmes reflect those of our partner universities.
