Xiang Yan Li – China

Xiang, 19, came to Wigan & Leigh College three years ago to study Art & Design and is now in her final year of a National Diploma in Fashion & Clothing.

“I have learned much more about the world of fashion and the techniques involved in designing and making clothes,” she says.  “It’s very interesting and I have enjoyed my course.”

Franklin Nettey – Ghana

Franklin, 27, came to College this year on the BITE access programme for International Students (now the IPC).  On completion of this programme he intends to progress onto higher courses in Computing, with a view to pursuing a career in this field.

Franklin says: “This access programme is integral to furthering my study at the College and has given me a great insight into education in the UK.”

Winn Thaw Winn – Myanmar

Winn, 30, is studying on the Foundation Degree in Construction Management, after successfully completing a Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering.

“Wigan & Leigh College was recommended to me while I was studying in Myanmar.” he says. “It is a good College and I have made many friends here.”

Cynthia Omojafoh – Nigeria

Cynthia, 27, first came to Wigan & Leigh College four years ago on the BITE programme and progressed onto the Higher National Diploma in Computing.  She is now completing a “top-up” BSc Hons Degree in Computing.  In 2007 she was awarded the title of International Student of The Year.

“I have enjoyed my time at the College, and gained much fluency with Information Technology,” says Cynthia.
