Where can you take the test?
The local test centres for Wigan
and Leigh College are based at the
University of Liverpool and UMIST
in Manchester. Tests take place approximately
once a month and the results are issued
within two weeks of the date of the
test.
What does the test consist of?
All candidates are tested in listening,
reading, writing and speaking. All
candidates take the same Listening
and Speaking modules. If you are planning
to undertake academic study it is
recommended that you sit for the Academic
Reading and Writing modules. If you
are planning to undertake non-academic
training it is recommended that you
sit for the General Training Reading
and Writing modules.
How can English Language Centre
staff assist in preparing you for
the test?
Dedicated staff within the English
Language Centre will assess your ability
of English Language as soon as possible,
and then provide the necessary programme,
to prepare you for the test. When
they feel that you are ready to take
the test, they will provide you with
an application form and further information
on the IELTS test, and inform you
of the test fee at the time of your
application.
