The 14 - 16 Academy
offers a range of vocational courses, designed
to give you a valuable qualification and
realistic work experience in a specific
area of work.
If you decide to choose
this option, you will come to College for
one session per week and use our specialist
facilities. You will be encouraged to build
up valuable skills and you will also have
the chance to get a real taste of College
life. You can use the course as a stepping-stone
to further study at the College, or to help
in your chosen career. Many students choose
to study at the College and progress on
to the next level of the course.
How do you apply?
You need to discuss the
possibility of attending the Academy with
your teacher and parent/guardian/carer.
If the Academy has a course to suit you,
your teacher at school will give you an
application form. Complete this form and
return it to your school and they will pass
it on to the College.
Upon receipt of your application,
we will arrange an interview time. A College
tutor will interview you and you will be
asked to carry out an assessment test. Both
the interview and assessment will take place
at school.
After the interview and
test, you will be able to find out more
about your chosen course. The College tutor
will discuss your suitability for attending
the Academy.
Further discussion can
be had with your teacher, if you are unsure
about the Academy.
Places are limited and
are subject to demand.
A school/college agreement
and student/parent/guardian/carer agreement
will be completed prior to any course commencing.
Child Protection Policy
The College believes that
young people should be protected from harm
and it has a Child Protection Policy, which
also incorporates vulnerable adults. The
policy is reviewed and updated regularly.
A designated Child Protection Team ensures
that staff and learners understand the Policy.
Copies of the Policy are available on request.
