Welcoming your Children

At Wigan & Leigh College we aim to make the transition from School to College as worry-free as possible. We offer the best choice of courses available, in both academic and job-related study. What makes the College special is that we have courses at many different levels, to suit a wide range of abilities. No matter what your son or daughter's expected exam results are, we aim to have something just right for them.

Here at the College, we believe that students come first and the quality of our student support has been widely recognised. We continually strive to raise the standard of teaching and learning and to improve the experience and achievements of your child.

We welcome feedback from you and are happy to answer any questions and queries that you or your child may have. Please contact College Liaison on 01942 761529, who will be happy to help.

Student Support

Study Support
Study Support offers help to students on all courses and levels to complete assignments successfully. Support can be given on a one-to-one basis, small group or workshop session. Students will get extra help with Maths, English or study skills to help them gain the confidence and skills needed to complete their course. Call 01942 761786 for further information.

Key Skills
Key Skills are an important and integral part of the College programme. They are recognised qualifications and are valued by employers. They will help increase your child's confidence and develop his or her overall Maths, English and ICT skills. These additional qualifications can help them get a job and provide UCAS points if they apply to University.

Inclusive Learning
The College welcomes learners with learning difficulties and disabilities. We try to make sure that students are on the right course and will succeed. You may feel that you need some support with your learning when you come to College. If so, arrangements can be made for an interview with our Inclusive Learning Team. Assessment will be treated discreetly and in confidence. After the assessment you may be offered support.

This support will vary depending on the individual. You may get support from an Inclusive Learning Officer, both in and outside the classroom. You may be loaned a laptop computer, a voice-activated recorder, a spellchecker, or a specialised piece of equipment. Access arrangements may be made for examinations and assignments.

The Inclusive Learning Team can be contacted at room 201, Parson's Walk Campus, Wigan.
Alternatively, if you would like to have an informal chat with one of our team call 01942 761887 or 01942 761849
Email: ilt@wigan-leigh.ac.uk

Our services are available across all sites and in the community.
