College Open Evenings
The College holds open evenings throughout the year. These evenings provide
pupils, parents and school staff with the opportunity to look around the College and
speak to our dedicated team of curriculum staff. They also offer prospective students
an insight into college life.
Please visit our Open Evening Section for more information.
COLLEGE TOURS
We offer tours of the College facilities for pupils, school staff or Connexions advisors.
This is beneficial to students, as they will be able to preview the College before
making important decisions about their future. The tours can be tailored to suit the
needs and interests of the group and can specifically include your selected curriculum
areas.
CAREERS/Options days
Our Liaison Team will attend any careers or options events that you are holding in
school and will support pupils in making informed choices about their future.
EDUCATION OTHERWISE
Education Otherwise is an alternative education programme for young people,
whereby they attend college either full or part time. This programme leads to the
development of life and social skills and progression is onto a vocational programme.
GUIDANCE INTERVIEWS
If pupils are unsure about which subjects they would like to study, then they can
access a general guidance interview. Guidance interviews can be arranged to take
place at school or in College. These are very useful for pupils, as our experienced
liaison team will help to inform pupils of a range of options and assess which study
route is best to take.
LUNCH TIME ADVISORY SESSIONS
Our lunch time advisory sessions give pupils the opportunity to speak to a member of
the team at a convenient time to them. A representative will be available in your
school during lunchtime to allow pupils to find out more about the college and the
courses on offer. During these informal sessions, pupils can also gain assistance in
completing their applications. These sessions work well when combined with our
Year 11 Presentations.
MOCK INTERVIEWS
A representative from the liaison team will be happy to support pupils by attending
any mock interview events that you are holding in school. Our experienced staff will
advise pupils on how to improve their interview skills and overall confidence.
PARENTS EVENINGS
When you are holding Parents’ Evenings in school a member of the Liaison Team will
be pleased to attend. We will provide parents and pupils with the information and
advice they require and answer any questions about the College that they may have.
TASTER EVENTS
Our team includes specialist curriculum staff who are available to share their
knowledge and expertise with pupils interested in a particular subject. Taster events
can be tailored to your needs or we can create a programme to show the best of
what the College has to offer. A new range of taster events are available now in all
subject areas.
WORK EXPERIENCE
If you are organising work experience for the pupils in your school, why not take
advantage of our diverse vocational provision. The college has many realistic
working environments, in which pupils can work alongside our staff and students.
This helps pupils gain an idea of the career paths they would like to take in the future
and which courses they need to study now to achieve their goals.
YEAR 11 PRESENTATIONS
Our presentation outlines the wide range of courses and facilities available at the
College, explains the entry criteria and admissions process. Presentations can be
delivered during an assembly, or ideally with smaller groups during a lesson or lunch
time. Smaller groups allow a more interactive presence in the classroom and pupils
often find it easier to ask questions.
If you are planning to hold an event in your school, please don’t hesitate to
contact us. We would be happy to attend and offer advice to your pupils.
We look forward to working alongside the staff and pupils in your school.
