Football Development Programme

The College, in partnership with the Lancashire Football Association, has offered a successful Football Development Programme to male students since 2008.  Since 2009, this initiative has expanded to give female students the opportunity to become part of the programme.

Participants, who must be aged 16-19 on entry, will study towards a Level One, Two or Three programme, dependant upon their current level of ability and qualifications.  In addition, they will be provided with up to eight hours contact with approved FA coaches per week.  This will include matches and the completion of the Level One FA Football Coaching Award.

Basketball Academy

A partnership has been formed between the College and Westleigh Basketball Club, one of the North West’s foremost clubs.  Students will receive two hours tuition per week from Greater Manchester’s Coach of the Year 2008, Sharon Seaton.

The academy is open to male students aged 16-19 on a Level One, Two or Three Sports course at the College. .Students studying on other courses within the College will be able to take part if their timetable allows it.  Participants will have the opportunity to play in a competitive league and to achieve officials’ qualifications.

Acceptance on all the Sporting Academies will be subject to trials to take place in May 2010.

As an equal opportunities organisation, the college is committed to expanding the opportunities available to females when both demand and the opportunity to play competitive matches allow.
