Access to Higher Education made easy!

  • Have you been thinking about returning to study?
  • Have you got a career in mind but haven't got the required entry qualifications to apply?
  • Have you thought about University-level study but don't have the entry qualifications?
  • Perhaps you are unemployed or need a higher qualification for a career change?
Don't worry! If you are over 19 - we can help you!

Your first step could be to join our 'Pre-Access' programme (formerly known as 'Step Into Study'), which is designed to give you confidence and improve your skills in preparation for an ACCESS to Higher Education course. Successful completion, together with a positive reference from your tutor would allow you to progress on to one of our Access Programmes. If you have studied at level 2 (GCSE Level) in the past couple of years you may be able to go directly onto an Access programme.

Our Access programmes are designed with the needs of adult students in mind. Our Access Courses run at various times either full-time or part-time - please check with the particular course leader for further details.

An Access course can provide you with the entry requirements for many Higher Education courses, including Art and Design, Forensic Science, Health Sciences, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Criminology and Social Work.

If you would like more information regarding our Access programmes call 01942 761477 for more information.

"I studied Access to Health at Wigan & Leigh College and I have now progressed on to The University of Salford to study Midwifery. I really enjoyed studying at Wigan & Leigh College and found the tutors to be very supportive."
