Hair Boutique is a new hairdressing
salon based in Hindley, Wigan.
Jane Jenks opened the salon,
after 22 years of experience in the
hairdressing industry, and now has
two employees on board. The Challenge was to remain competitive.
The Results
Jane is delighted with the service
that the College has provided. “I feel confident that the advice

the College will help me take my
new business through the current
economic situation.”

Jane is planning for the future
and is looking to the College for
further support to develop the
team’s management skills.
Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS
Foundation Trust is a major acute trust
serving the people of Wigan & Leigh. In 2008 the Trust signed the
Government’s Skills Pledge to actively
encourage and support all staff to
achieve a level 2 qualification by 2015. The Trust required a blend of training
that would best meet the diverse needs
of staff and the Trust.
The Results
• Achieving Level 2 – Over 300
employees achieved their first Level
2 qualification and many more are
currently undertaking awards.
• Improved motivation – Many
of the qualified staff encouraged
and motivated colleagues to engage
in training.
• Positive feedback – Managers are
really noticing the difference in staff
confidence and several staff have
been promoted as a result of their
achievements.
