Retail Apprenticeship

Retail Assistants are at the forefront of any retail business. They can influence a customer’s opinion about a shop, concession, showroom, or entire organisation. For all retail businesses, well trained staff are vital for business success.

Retail staff tasks include:
  • Organise the receipt and storage of goods in a retail environment
  • Audit stock levels and stock inventories in a retail environment
  • Source required goods and services in a retail environment
  • Follow guidelines for planning and preparing visual merchandising displays
  • Process payments for purchases in a retail environment
  • Develop productive relationships with colleagues and customers

  • Apprenticeship Framework:


    NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 in Retail Skills

    Functional Skills:
    NVQ 2: English & Maths Level 1
    NVQ 3: English & Maths Level 2

    Technical Certificate: Certificate in Retail Knowledge

    NVQ Level 2 Units:

  • Work effectively in your retail team


  • NVQ Level 3 Specialisation Operations

  • Sales professional
  • Management
  • Visual Merchandising
  • You also choose from a wide selection of optional units to suit your job role. Learners must be employed within a relevant occupation. Apprenticeships can start at any time of the year.
