Welcome to the Trade Union Education Unit
Wigan & Leigh College is a Trade Union Congress (TUC) designated unit providing training for Union Representatives, Health & Safety Representatives, Learning Representatives and Union members across North West..
Our training programmes are designed to develop the confidence and skills of representatives to support members and colleagues within the workplace.
Our TUC Education Unit holds the prestigious union learn Quality Award recognising the good working practice successfully and flexibly with unions.
We offer the TUC’s core programmes for Union, Health & Safety and Learning Representatives as well as well as short courses. All our courses are accredited with the North West Open College.
Work Force Development
The Train to Gain service has been the main source of
fully-funded training, available to employers for several
years. The availability of this funding has changed and
the College is working closely with employers to
ensure our training offer remains relevant, responsive
and cost-effective. The good news is that funded
training remains possible through the wide range of
Apprenticeship programmes that we offer.
Apprenticeships have now become the main route for
your business to access funded
work-based training.
Some of courses we offer include Business Admnistration, Customer Services, Management and ITQ.
