Specialist Services and Facilities

Take advantage of what Wigan & Leigh College has to offer.

Our students experience the world of work on many of their vocational courses. We have a fully equipped training restaurant, travel shop and hair and beauty salons. You can use any of these facilities, as a customer, at very low prices and be confident that all students are fully supervised by experienced staff.

A Question of Sport
If you like working out, you could use the Impact Centre at Parson's Walk, Wigan. This state-of-the-art fitness suite has the latest conditioning equipment, including treadmills, step machines, cycles, weights and much more.

Refreshments & Shops
We provide a full service of cafeterias, snack bars and vending outlets, conveniently placed throughout the College. On-site shops are also available for such things as stationery or personal items. Our shops sell sandwiches, drinks, sweets, stationery and all the things you really need. At Wigan School for the Arts there is an Art shop where you can buy artist's materials for your studies, at competitive prices.

Child Care/Nursery provision

Wigan and Leigh College does not provide a dedicated Nursery service for students or staff. Wigan and Leigh College has an effective Student Services function that offers appropriate support to students.

The college has developed links with community based nursery providers over a period of time, students are signposted to providers via childcare websites. Financial support may also be available to cover or contribute to nursery provision, which is administered through the Student Services team.

Counselling

Wigan and Leigh College does not provide a dedicated counselling service for students or staff. The college has developed strong partnerships with community based health services over a period of time.

Students with additional support needs, such as counselling, have been referred to external agencies as and when necessary. This has proved to be a successful route for students with particular additional needs.

Students will be made aware of the external agency referral network through any Student Services centre.
