Annual College Awards Celebration

Students from across the campuses at Wigan & Leigh College recently celebrated their achievements at the DW Stadium, Wigan.

The evening was the celebration of students from across the College with students receiving awards for Student of the Year or Achievement Awards in their chosen area of study. There was a wide range of age groups receiving awards, showing that age was no barrier in achieving a qualification.

Several students received Scholarships and some received Special Awards. Daniel Dawoud was delighted to be this year’s winner of the Chairman’s Prize for Outstanding Achievement, presented to him by the Chair of Governors at Wigan & Leigh College, Richard Waterfield, who said: “He is a credit to himself and to the College. An example of what a student should be.”

Altogether, 65 trophies were presented to deserving students from across the borough.

College Principal, Cath Hurst said, “This evening is about the best of the best at Wigan & Leigh College.  It is a great achievement for the individual to achieve at whatever level of study.  I am extremely pleased with all the effort and hard work that these students have put in to gain their awards.”
