College staff were joined by local employers and partners yesterday to celebrate the official launch of its new Employment Services. The event took place in the new dedicated office at Parson’s Walk, Wigan and was hosted by Cath Hurst OBE, Principal.
The service has been developed in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and The Skills Shop to offer individuals within the borough new training and development opportunities to provide them with the right skills to find employment.
Local employers can also benefit from the service and are offered support in recruiting local individuals with the right skills for their business
Members of staff were joined by representatives from The Skills Funding Agency, Jobcentre Plus, Wigan Council, Tesco, Morrisons and other local partners to mark the exciting occasion.
The official plaque was unveiled by Andy Fawcett from The Skills Funding Agency who was delighted to be involved with the celebration.
The borough is making positive headway in reducing unemployment figures, but there are still many challenges to face. The Employment Services joins many public and private sector organisations to continue to work hard to help those who still have not yet found employment.
