Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering
Senior Manufacturing Engineer at MBDA Missile Systems

Beki Davis

The Bolton born student who studied on a four year Apprenticeship, achieving a Higher National Certificate and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with the College, scooped three national awards including Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year, SEMTAs Higher National Apprentice of the Year and MBDA Apprentice of the Year.

The apprenticeship scheme enabled me to not only complete industry related qualifications to a degree level whilst gaining valuable work experience but also to become an ambassador for females in Engineering, a honorary fellow and to scoop three national Apprenticeship awards. An Apprenticeship has not only provided me with a career for life but also enabled me to buy my own house and car

Beki has scooped the prestigious prizes at the Park Plaza Riverbank in London and the ICC Birmingham in front of thousands of guests and industry professionals.

The apprenticeship which enabled Beki to establish a career as a senior engineer within Europe’s number one manufacturer in missiles saw the female engineer invited to 10 Downing Street to meet Prime Minister, David Cameron and to become an ambassador for females working in Science, Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) industries. Beki’s role as an ambassador sees her working in schools to highlight the range of career opportunities in STEM industries.
