Wigan & Leigh College has a long-standing history and reputation for providing excellence in engineering and manufacturing and is committed to training highly skilled engineers of the future. The College specialises in intelligent engineering including mechatronics, robotics, automation and autonomous vehicles, as well as the development and evolution of hybrid technologies.The Centre has had significant investment of £1.4m to ensure that future engineers develop technical skills and knowledge using the latest equipment and technologies which include a CNC Milling Machine, CNC Plasma Cutter and Thermo Fluid Bench and Bernoullis Principle Test equipment.

OPERATIONAL RESEARCH & ANALYTICS DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP - SELLAFIELD LTD

Location: Risley

  • A minimum of Grade C (Step 4) or above in at least 5 GCSEs including English Language, Maths and a Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or similar)
  • A minimum of 96 UCAS points, including Maths at A Level grade B or above and Science at A level grade C or above. Other level 3 STEM qualifications may be considered.

Operational Research (O.R.), is the discipline of applying analytical methods to help make better decisions. Its methods can be used by almost all organisations, groups and individuals. It uses methods such as logic and mathematical modelling to analyse complex situations, giving decision makers of all types the power to make more effective decisions.

ENGINEERING DESIGN DEGREE APPRENTICE - SELLAFIELD LTD

Location: Risley

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (Step 4) or above, including Mathematics, English Language & a Science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science or similar).
  • Minimum of 96 UCAS points, including Mathematics and a STEM subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science or similar) at A-Level. Other Level 3 STEM qualifications may be considered.

You will receive foundation training in all aspects of workshop-based engineering. The majority of your apprenticeship will be based in our offices and production facilities, training alongside and learning from professional engineers, working towards and completing your Level 5 HNC/HND in your first three years.

Cable Jointers are responsible for installing and joining lengths of power cable together, as well as repairing and maintaining the cables which are critical to keeping our network running safely and successfully. You’ll be confident working in confined spaces and be comfortable working outside in all weathers.

CONTROL ENGINEER

A Control Engineer is responsible for the control and operation of our electrical network, 24/7 365 days within the control centre under normal and fault situations.
