Apprentice setting out Engineer / Surveyor. Setting out and surveying Civil and structural works. Producing As build surveys and Topographical surveys as well as measured building surveys. Duties will include:

  • Assisting with initial site surveys
  • Creating engineering design plans, by hand or with computer aided design (CAD) software
  • Preparing estimates of labour costs, and the amounts and type of material
  • Drawing up timescales for the delivery of supplies, equipment and labour
  • Inspecting projects and supervising progress
  • Reporting problems to site managers and preparing reports for engineers
  • Preparing As built surveys for QA purposes
  • Reporting to Site Manager

This role requires great attention for detail, conscientiousness and a desire to consistently produce high standards of work. Applicants should have 5 GCSEs A-C to apply for this apprenticeship.

Driving licence/Own transport or access to transport is essential.

A full time role within the business on completion of the apprenticeship.

About the apprenticeship …

This advanced apprenticeship programme in electrical and instrumentation is designed to develop you over 2 years to reach a minimum level of a skilled shift electrical and instrumentation technician. You will spend the first year at Wigan and Leigh College, before moving to day release in years 2-4.

You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician, which includes qualifications at Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations, Level 3 Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Maintenance Engineering.You will also have the opportunity to study for a HNC Engineering qualification.

What you need to apply…

You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above including in Maths, English and Science, and have a real interest in electrical and/or instrumentation engineering.

You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop.

APPRENTICE ENGINEER MACHINIST - HORIZONTAL BORING SERVICES

Location: Wigan, WN5
Salary: £136.50 per week

Working within the Engineering team in the workshop duties will include:

  • Machining components from specialist materials using conventional and/or CNC machine tools such as centre lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, horizontal and cylindrical grinding machines, boring machines, single and multi-axis CNC machine tool centres.
  • To use and interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and computer generated programmes.
  • To set up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings as applicable to the machine tool being used.
  • To be able to produce, prove and/or edit CNC programmes.
  • During and on completion of the machining operations be expected to measure and check the components being produced and make adjustments to the equipment/programme to ensure components meet the required specification.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work they undertake.
  • Reporting to the workshop Manager/Foreman

Progression onto a Level 3 course with a full time role within the business on completion of the apprenticeship.

A minimum of grade C in English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent level.

APPRENTICE MACHINIST - J P C ENGINEERING LTD

JPC Engineering have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join the machine shop team. You will be working alongside qualified members of staff and will be involved in a range of Engineering tasks related to the manufacture of components.

  • Machinists will be predominantly involved in highly skilled, complex and precision work, machining components from specialist materials using conventional and/or CNC machine tools such as centre lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, horizontal and cylindrical grinding machines.
  • They must be able to use and interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and computer-generated programmes.
  • Expected to be able to set up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings as applicable to the machine tool being used.
  • When using the CNC equipment be expected to be able to produce, prove and/or edit programmes.
  • During and on completion of the machining operations be expected to measure and check the components being produced and make adjustments to the equipment/programme to ensure components meet the required specification.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work they undertake.
  • Be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business.
  • Reporting to senior engineers within the business.

5 GCSEs grades A-C including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.

Possible progression within the business on completion of training and further development within the business.
