Current Role

Course Leader As Fine Art, BTEC Pre Pre-Degree Fine Art. Personal Tutor and Course Tutor for Game Design and Fine Art Print.

I teach to inspire. I always share my passion for the subject and knowledge, delivering lessons that give every student the opportunity to experiment and develop their ideas into original outcomes.

Before teaching ...

I was a time-served plumber specialising in feature lead work and restoration of historical buildings. As well as a freelance sculptor, model maker and special effects makeup artist for film and theatre productions. Additionally I run my own business in figurative and portrait sculptor and producer for the BBC, Granada Studios, Liverpool Council, and Marvel. Special Effects makeup and prop building for a number of theatre companies and music video. I delivered community community based workshops for Halton Council creating 12 foot puppets for a parade involving schools form from the local area.

career highlights and achievements ...

Highlights of my career to date include, achieving a First Class Honours Teaching Degree in Design and Education, and now working with students and seeing them achieve beyond their target grades. Another achievement was having having my prosthetic makeup and props used in an award award-winning horror movie and subsequently being signed by a leading film company. Being selected along with 26 other artists to sculpt and produce a display bust for the Monster Charity Project , along side BAFTA and Oscar nominated makeup artists from in and around Europe.

INSPIRATION...

My tutor at College John Charters, was an inspiration to me, he always challenged our ideas, allowed us to take risks in our work and develop our own personal style throughout our time on the course.

Every day is an exciting new challenge in this industry. You must keep up to date with current trends and explore new materials and techniques. Art and Design is an ever-changing industry and you need to constantly adapt!

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND...

I studied Manchester Metropolitan University- BA (Hons) Design with Secondary Education and Qualified Teacher Status. at Manchester Metropolitan University after completing a Foundation Degree.
