"I love my career and industry because of the variety of work and challenges that are faced each day, the fact that you are constantly using your initiative and problem solving on a daily basis"

CURRENT ROLE

I currently teach Electrical Installation and Mechanical Engineering. I deliver all aspects of the curriculum such as Sciences, Technology and practical workshop sessions

BEFORE TEACHING

I was a fully qualified Electrician with over 16 years in industry; I had various roles such as electrical contractor and I became an electrician at Leigh College and it gave me the motivation to start teaching here.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Becoming the College electrician as this was a major part in giving me the motivation to change my job role and train as a teacher. I started teaching part time in the evenings and I realised this was the job that I wanted to pursue.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

I studied a level 2 & level 3 City and Guilds qualification in Electrical Installation along with a level 3 NV. I also studied short courses such as Inspection and Testing and Wiring regulations courses. I am also fully conversant with using various machinery and tools as have been on short training courses to develop my skills and understanding of the industry.
