"Do something today that your future self will thank you for"

current role

I teach on the Health & Social Care programmes and apprenticeships.

before teaching...

My industry experience prior to working in the education sector included Senior Service Manager role for Lifetime Opportunities, providing support to children and adults with learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and challenging behaviours within a residential setting. I provided on-going support to the homes registered managers and ensured quality was maintained with regular home inspections. I worked closely with commissioner’s whist opening new adult provisions to ensure the homes provided quality of care to meet the complex needs of the adults and children.

I also worked at a registered manager of a children’s home in Lancashire for Educare Adolescent Services. The home catered for the needs of young people with emotional and behaviour difficulties between the ages 12 to 18. I progressed to become registered manager from senior care worker. I went on to work for a local care home, Nugent Care at a secure unit in St Helens Merseyside, helping support the needs of some young women with complex needs.

career highlights and achievements...

I get a sense of achievement in seeing the difference in students as they gain new insights, become more interested in a subject and learn about themselves. I like my sessions to be creative, develop character, and give students the knowledge and understand of the health and social care sector. Developing the skills they need to reach their potential and lead productive lives and a passion for ensuring the future high standards within the sector though quality of training are why I teach.

inspiration...

I was inspired after I started to train staff whilst managing services in social care and found it very rewarding.
