Kendra Chant - head of health & social care

“My top tip for success in Health & Social Care is always treat others how you would want to be treated. Work with integrity and respect for others. Working with the most vulnerable people in society means you are relied upon heavily.”

CURRENT ROLE

Leading a highly experienced team of industry and education professionals in Health & Social Care. I currently deliver Masterclasses on a variety of subjects related to Health & Social Care, specialising in Safeguarding and Psychology & development through life stages. I have expert knowledge on Cystic Fibrosis and deliver sessions surrounding this life threatening and shortening genetic illness and its impact on the body, families and multi-disciplinary approaches to care.

BEFORE TEACHING...

Prior to teaching I spent two years working for Social Services with vulnerable young people aged 4-18 years and their families.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS & ACHIEVEMENTS...

A career highlight would be when my team was awarded an AOC Beacon Award for Widening Participation in Higher Education in 2017 which again was great recognition for the hard work demonstrated by the team I managed.

INSPIRATION...

I was inspired by numerous teachers at school, particularly my A Level Psychology teacher at College.

Health & Social Care is a subject that is easy to be passionate about and sharing that knowledge so that others can work in the field in such a worthy sector is priceless.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND...

After studying A Levels at College I progressed onto a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and subsequently my Post Graduate teaching qualification.
