The Level 3 Diploma builds on your existing skills and focuses on developing advanced technical knowledge, precision workmanship, and professional working practices required in carpentry and joinery.
You will study topics such as:
Advanced health, safety and welfare practices in construction
Interpreting drawings, specifications and technical information
Producing complex carpentry and joinery joints
Constructing and fitting doors, frames, windows and stairs
Advanced site carpentry and workshop joinery techniques
Quality control, accuracy and finishing standards
Problem solving and working to industry tolerances
Employability skills, communication, and preparation for the workplace
A significant proportion of learning takes place in well?equipped workshops, supported by classroom?based theory to strengthen your technical understanding.
Assessment is continuous and focused on demonstrating high?level practical competence and technical understanding.
You will be assessed through:
Advanced practical assessments carried out in workshop conditions
Tutor observation of skills, accuracy and safe working practices
Portfolio evidence including photographs, drawings and written tasks
Online and Written Exams
Knowledge?based assignments related to materials, methods and construction technology
Assessment reflects industry expectations and focuses on quality, accuracy and professionalism.
Full time for one academic year
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 including a grade 4 or equivalent in English or Maths. This is a progression qualification for learners that have achieved a Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery Qualification.
Successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma can lead to a range of progression opportunities, including:
Employment as a skilled carpenter or joiner
Advanced apprenticeships or specialist construction training
Higher?level construction or site management qualifications
This course supports learners aiming for long?term careers and advancement within the construction industry.
Due to the practical nature of the course, all students will require essential safety equipment, including work trousers and steel toe?cap boots. You will be fully supported by our experienced, trade?qualified tutors to help you achieve your goals.
