Creative Design for Gaming Extended Diploma
Is this course for me?
If you enjoy gaming and feel you have creative ideas for games then this could be the industry for you. This is one of the fastest growing sectors of the entertainment industry. You will discover how the creative process is an integral part of the gaming industry from idea generation to digital concept artwork.
The programme is part of the Art and Design Diploma and therefore is creative and design based. You will develop skills around drawing, the design process, character creation, gaming concepts and production of digital images and animation. You will develop your 3D digital modelling and animation skills in the second year.
Coursework is project-based and is assessed throughout the course by your tutors. A range of assessment methods are used including external 'live' projects. You are required to evaluate your own coursework progress and in tutorials. You will not be required to sit an examination.
Full time for two academic years
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-4 or equivalent including maths or English and an art related subject.
You will develop the skills to progress on to university and can choose a degree in Games Design or other design based programmes. Prior students have secured places at a range of top universities to study Games Design, Animation, Illustration and Concept Art for TV and Film.
You will be taught by qualified lecturers who are also practising artists and designers. Opportunities for work experience, work related learning and guest speakers to underpin the professional creative elements of the course and are part of your learning.
