Economics A Level
Is this course for me?
A-Level Economics is ideal if you are interested in understanding how economies work, from individual markets to global financial systems. It is great if you are planning to pursue further studies in economics, business, finance, or even politics.
In A-Level Economics, you will explore both microeconomics (the study of individual markets and decision-making) and macroeconomics (the study of the economy as a whole). Some key topics you will study include:
• Microeconomics: Supply and demand, market structures, market failure, the role of government in the economy.
• Macroeconomics: Economic growth, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade.
AS level you will sit two papers 1hr and 30 minutes each.
A Level you will sit three papers each 2 hours long.
Full time for two academic years.
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-5 including English and Maths. 2 GCSE subjects graded 9-6 (one in an essay-based subject).
After completing A-Level Economics, you can progress to:
• University: Many students go on to study Economics, Business, Finance, or related fields at university.
• Careers: Economics A-Levels open up career options in fields like finance, banking, government, consultancy, business management, marketing, and data analysis.
• You could also pursue apprenticeships or internships in finance or business for practical experience.
Throughout the course, you will develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of global and national economic issues.
