Electrical Installation - Building Services Engineering for Construction T Level

The North-West Construction & Technology Excellence College (CTEC) at Wigan & Leigh College provides high-quality training for careers in construction. It was created in response to the need for around 40,000 new workers to fill construction jobs across the UK.
Construction is a modern industry with a wide range of opportunities. It combines technology, creativity, and practical skills, including digital design, 3D modelling, and more sustainable methods of building.
CTEC courses are developed with employers, ensuring you gain the skills companies are actively looking for. You'll build real experience and develop the knowledge employers value, helping you stand out when applying for apprenticeships or jobs.
The T?Level is a two?year, full?time qualification designed with employers to reflect real industry practice. It combines classroom learning, practical workshop training and a substantial industry placement.
You will study core content common to the construction and building services sector, including:
Health, safety and environmental regulations
Building methods, construction technology and sustainability
Science and mathematical principles for construction
Information, data and digital technologies
Project management, communication and teamwork
You will then specialise in Electrotechnical Occupational Specialism, covering:
Electrical installation practices and technology
Wiring systems and containment
Electrical science and principles
Inspection, testing and fault diagnosis
Working to electrical regulations and industry standards
Installation of electrical systems in domestic and commercial settings
In addition, you will complete a minimum 45?day industry placement, giving you valuable real?world experience with an employer.
Assessment is a combination of external and internal methods designed to test both knowledge and practical competence.
You will be assessed through:
External written examinations set by the Awarding Body
Employer?set project based on real industry scenarios
Practical assessments and assignments
Ongoing assessment of core knowledge and occupational skills
The industry placement is a mandatory part of the qualification and must be successfully completed to achieve the T?Level.
Full time for two academic years
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-4 including Maths, English and Science.
Successful completion of the T?Level can lead to a wide range of progression opportunities, including:
An apprenticeship in Electrical Installation or Maintenance
Higher or degree?level apprenticeships
Higher education related to Building Services Engineering
The T?Level is designed as a high?quality technical alternative to A Levels and is widely recognised by employers and education providers.
This two-year qualification requires completion of a minimum 45-day industry placement. You will be fully supported by our experienced, trade?qualified tutors to help you achieve your goals.
