If you are interested in working in a dynamic industry where innovation is paramount, The Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT is an advanced technical qualification that will expand your skills, and help prepare you for a successful and rewarding career in information technology and computing. This course is designed to deepen your understanding of information technology as a whole. You may want to take up further study at university level, in subjects such as web and games or mobile app development and computing.
You will gain an insight into the computing industry studying web development, computer programming, digital graphics, multimedia and mobile app development.
You will study a range of subjects including:
• Mobile apps
• Programming
• Robotics
• Internet of Things
Depending on the course, through a combination of practical observations, assignments and formal exams.
Level 3 are full-time for two academic years.
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-4 or equivalent, including English or Maths.
You may progress from Level 2 through to Level 3 or to an apprenticeship.
Many Level 3 students progress to the University Centre Wigan & Leigh College's Higher Education programmes, including HND and the BSc (Hons) in Computing.
