This course is ideal if you are looking to start or develop a career in the plastering trade within the construction industry. It is suitable for learners who want to build on basic skills and progress towards employment or an apprenticeship.

This qualification develops the technical knowledge, practical skills and employability behaviours required for work as a plasterer. Learning takes place through a combination of classroom?based theory and extensive practical workshop sessions.
You will study topics such as:
Health, safety and welfare in construction
Plastering tools, equipment and materials
Preparing backgrounds for plastering
Applying plaster to flat surfaces
Float and set plastering techniques
Mixing plaster and controlling finishing quality
Understanding site working practices and standards
Communication, teamwork and employability skills
The course is designed to reflect real working conditions and prepare you for progression within the plastering trade.
Assessment is practical and ongoing, allowing you to demonstrate your skills throughout the course.
You will be assessed through:
Practical assessments carried out in workshop conditions
Tutor observation of plastering techniques and safe working practices
Portfolio evidence, including photographs, written tasks and worksheets
Online and Written Exams
Knowledge?based assignments linked to materials, methods and health and safety
Assessment focuses on understanding and your ability to complete plastering tasks to an industry?recognised standard.
Full time for one academic year
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including English and Maths.
On successful completion of this qualification, you may progress to:
An apprenticeship in Plastering

This course provides a strong foundation for learners aiming to develop a long?term career in the plastering and construction industry.
Due to the practical nature of the course, all students will require essential safety equipment, including work trousers and steel toe?cap boots. You will be fully supported by our experienced, trade?qualified tutors to help you achieve your goals.
