Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties Level 2 Certificate
Is this course for me?
Approximately 15% of people are affected by Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). Develop your understanding of what SpLDs are and how they can affect the lives of those impacted by them. From dyslexia and dyscalculia to ADHD and DCD, there are many types of SpLD and some people are affected by more than one. This course will help to identify ways of supporting those with SpLDs. The units and topics included are ideal for learners who want to support those with SpLDs at home, in the workplace, or in schools.
Ideal for learners who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of Specific Learning Difficulties. This may include teaching staff who wish to further their understanding of dyslexia, ADHD and other Specific Learning Difficulties, or employers who want to support their workforce.
Aims:
• Provide understanding of different Specific Learning Difficulties and support strategies.
Objectives:
• Improve awareness and support approaches for individuals with learning difficulties.
This course is split into five manageable units:
Unit 1: Understand specific learning difficulties
Unit 2: Understand the effects of specific learning difficulties
Unit 3: Understand the diagnosis of specific learning difficulties
Unit 4: Understanding supporting individuals with specific learning difficulties
Unit 5: Understand the context of specific learning difficulties
You will complete online platform-based questions — there are no exams and no grades.
To pass, you must show that you have met all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria set out in the qualification specification.
Our qualified assessors will give you detailed feedback, 1:1 support, and clear targets to help you succeed.
Support is available through the learning portal, email, or phone.
If your work doesn't meet the required standard, you will receive feedback, a new target date, and the chance to resubmit.

This course runs over 16 weeks and includes a recommended 129 guided learning hours (GLH). You can apply at any time, with flexible start dates available throughout the year.
There is no specific prior skill or knowledge required for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a level 1 health and social care-related qualification.
We recommend you already have at least a Level 1 in English (GCSE grade 3/D or equivalent).
