Digital Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

The role of a Digital Engineering Technician is to produce detailed solutions to achieve the optimum performance of built environment projects via digital models and presentations using software, sketches and electronic visualisations. The apprentices will typically support Digital Engineers or other functional specialists in completing complex tasks using digital engineering techniques, specifically: virtualisation and simulation of design, construction and management of assets; digital measurement of design, production and management of assets; communication of complex engineering principles to stakeholders digitally; integration of construction data and information throughout the whole life cycle of the asset; adherence to the standards and regulation of digital information. In this apprenticeship, you will be learning the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be successful in your chosen role; skills include health and safety, sustainability, engineering, design, technology and innovation. Knowledge learnt includes planning, quality, customer care, maintenance, operation and knowledge sharing. Behaviours taught include professional judgement, commitment to code of ethics, professional development, communication, teamwork, innovation and collaboration.
All apprentices now complete an end-point assessment to complete their qualification. This is delivered by an independent end-point assessment organisation with no affiliation to the employer or training provider. This is a national requirement and endpoint assessments are carried out by a third party assessor. End point assessments use a variety of assessment methods depending on the apprenticeship standard these can include:Professional Discussions. Interviews. Showcase portfolios. Employers are looking for apprentices who have GCSE Maths and english at Grade 4. Level 2 - A minimum of 5 GCSEs, graded 9-3 or equivalent, including Maths or english. Level 3 - 6 - A minimum of 5 GCSEs, graded 9-4 or equivalent, including Maths or english.
Progression from the Level 3 Apprenticeship could lead to Construction Design Manager, Construction Quantity Surveyor, Construction Site Manager, and Civil Engineering Site Manager. This standard has been designed to deliver sufficient competence, underpinning knowledge and understanding in the identified job role to allow apprentices to meet the requirements of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) or other industry affiliated schemes.
