Electrical Power Networks Engineer Apprenticeship

Electrical Power Network Engineer covers 6 roles: Asset Management Engineer, Planning Engineer, Design Engineer, Control Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer and Operational Delivery Engineer. They work within the power sector with other Engineers, sometimes specialist Engineers, to provide engineering solutions to solve complex electricity network scenarios, in order to safely manage electricity supplies in normal and abnormal conditions. Using company/client network strategies, engineers undertake engineering activities to plan, manage, control, construct, replace, maintain and repair assets on the electricity network. They will work in engineering teams that may include Power Networks Craftspersons, senior Engineers and other business specialists, for example procurement, finance and telecommunications engineers. They are responsible for the quality of their own work, possibly others' and ensuring the work is completed safely, meets stakeholder quality, time, productivity and budget requirements, whilst maintaining the integrity and efficient running of the network. For the first two academic years you will study a HNC Engineering (Electrical and Electronic). In this apprenticeship you will be learning the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be successful in your chosen role, as indicated within the apprenticeship standard.
The HNC is assessed through a variety of methods from written assignments and projects. The End Point Assessment will comprise of a knowledge test, a practical observation and technical interview.
30 months
A relevant STEM Level 3 Diploma with 96 UCAS points. Mature apprentices with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. All apprentices must possess a Grade 4 or above in Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent.
This apprenticeship is recognised for entry to the HND Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (Non levy funded). This apprenticeship is designed to prepare successful apprentices to meet the requirements for registration for Engineering Technician (EngTech).This apprenticeship also provides progression to higher and degree level apprenticeships.
Students aged 16-18 do not pay exam fees.
