Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

Mechatronics maintenance technicians carry out a broad range of activities which may include installation, testing, fault finding, rectification, modifications and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines. This occupation is found in the aerospace, aviation, automotive, defence, logistics, pharmaceutical, energy, food and drink, and wider advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors which utilise automated equipment with integrated systems and interfaces, where the equipment contains a blend of technologies such as mechanical, electrical, electronic and control, and fluid power.
In this apprenticeship, you will be learning the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be successful in your chosen role: Knowledge includes principles of mechanical, electrical, electronic, control, robotic and AI applications. Knowledge of key technologies, fluid power, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, programmable logic controller's (PLC's), robotics, mechanical, control systems and how these are combined in complex mechatronics systems. Skills includes applying the techniques and processes used in reactive maintenance and repair activities on complex engineered systems such as electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems.
Mandatory qualification: Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
All apprentices now complete an end-point assessment to complete their qualification.
This is delivered by an independent end-point assessment organisation with no affiliation to the employer or training provider.
This is a national requirement and endpoint assessments are carried out by a third-party assessor. End point assessments use a variety of assessment methods depending on the apprenticeship standard these can include:

42 months + End Point Assessment
To undertake this Level 3 Apprenticeship employers are looking for apprentices who have a minimum of 5 GCSEs graded 9-4 including Maths and English at Grade 4
On completion of the apprenticeship the apprentice will have satisfied the requirements for registration as an Engineering Technician by the relevant professional engineering institution in accordance with the requirements of the Engineering Council as the registration body. This apprenticeship also provides progression to higher and degree level apprenticeships.
