Surveying Technician Apprenticeship

The main duties and tasks of a Surveying Technician include collecting information from inspections or visits to buildings, land and construction sites, taking appropriate measurements of buildings, land or plans, meet with other professionals, clients, customers and others to obtain and provide information relating to land, property or construction, collect and record data relating to land, buildings or construction for technical use, manage work tasks relating to the area of practice, undertake costings and/or measurements and/or valuations using data collected from research and ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others. In this apprenticeship, you will be learning the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be successful in your chosen role; skills include data collection and analysis, health and safety, construction technology and law. Key knowledge developed includes law, data collection, economics, health and safety, sustainability, Construction Technology and personal effectiveness. Behaviours learnt include providing a high standard of service, acting in a way that promotes trust in the surveying profession, acting in a professional and positive manner at all times, treating others with respect and taking responsibility.
All apprentices now complete an end-point assessment to complete their qualification. This is delivered by an independent end-point assessment organisation with no affiliation to the employer or training provider. This is a national requirement and endpoint assessments are carried out by a third party assessor. End point assessments use a variety of assessment methods depending on the apprenticeship standard these can include:Professional Discussions. Interviews. Showcase portfolios. Employers are looking for apprentices who have GCSE Maths and english at Grade 4. Level 2 - A minimum of 5 GCSEs, graded 9-3 or equivalent, including Maths or english. Level 3 - 6 - A minimum of 5 GCSEs, graded 9-4 or equivalent, including Maths or english.
The apprenticeship will provide the necessary knowledge skills and behaviours for successful apprentices to become Associate members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
