Is this course for me?
Are you interested in developing your sewing skills on a domestic sewing machine? This course is for complete beginners, or for students who have basic sewing skills and want to improve them.
Whether you're looking for a new hobby, a creative outlet, or the foundation for future projects, this course will give you the skills and confidence to get started in a friendly and supportive environment.
Throughout this course, you will:
• Be introduced to using a domestic sewing machine and an industrial overlocker
• Create a range of samples that develop your knowledge and skills in different manufacturing techniques & processes, such as seams, hems, darts, pockets, inserting a zip in a seam etc
• Gain tips for troubleshooting common issues when using a domestic sewing machine.
This is a practical course with no formal assessment. Your progress will be monitored through:
Completion of guided tasks during the course.
Opportunities to receive constructive guidance & feedback in the sessions.
8 Weeks
No formal entry requirements.
Upon completing this beginner's course, you can join our Intermediate sewing course to develop your knowledge and skills in more advanced sewing techniques.
Depending on the development of your skills, you may wish to enrol on our Institches sewing course where you can work on your own individual projects
