As this is a Level 3 technical qualification, you should already have appropriate electrical qualifications and experience. This course is not suitable for learners without an electrical background.

You will study areas such as:
Health, safety and risk assessment for EV charging installations
Types of electric vehicles and charging methods
EV charging equipment and system components
Installation requirements for domestic and commercial EV charge points
Supply characteristics and load management
Earthing arrangements and protective devices
Inspection, testing and commissioning of EV charging systems
Fault diagnosis and rectification
Completion of certification and documentation
Relevant standards, regulations and codes of practice
Learning combines classroom?based theory with practical installation and testing activities.
Knowledge-based assessments including written and online Exams.

This course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this qualification. Learners must hold one of the following: • City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357) • City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) (2357) • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (5357) • City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356) • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346) • Placeholder for City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification (2347) • Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable • Equivalent historical qualifications • ECS Gold Card (for domestic electrician), JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card
On successful completion of this qualification, you may progress to:
Installation of EV charging equipment as part of your professional role
Employment or progression within the electric vehicle and low?carbon sector
Further City & Guilds or Level 3 renewable and electrical qualifications
Specialist training in areas such as battery storage, solar PV or smart energy systems
