Electrical Installation Level 1 Diploma
Is this course for me?
This course is ideal if you are new to electrical installation and want to develop basic skills and knowledge in a practical learning environment. It is particularly suitable for:
School leavers or adults with little or no electrical experience
Learners interested in becoming an electrician or working in building services
Those who prefer hands?on learning alongside classroom study
No previous Electrical Qualifications are required. You should be motivated, able to follow instructions carefully, and committed to working safely while developing confidence with tools and equipment.

The Level 1 Diploma provides a foundation in electrical installation skills and knowledge. You will gain an understanding of basic electrical principles and safe working practices used within the industry.
You will study areas such as:
Health and safety in an electrical installation environment
Electrical tools, equipment and materials
Basic electrical science and principles
Wiring systems and components
Installing simple electrical circuits
Introduction to inspection and testing
Understanding industry regulations and standards
Employability skills, communication and teamwork
Learning takes place through a combination of classroom?based theory and practical workshop activities.
Assessment is continuous and designed to support your learning throughout the course.
You will be assessed through:
Practical assessments in workshop environments
Tutor observation of skills and safe working practices
Written assignments and short knowledge tests
Portfolio evidence of completed tasks and activities
Full time for one academic year
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including English and Maths.
After successfully completing this qualification, you may progress to:
City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation
A Electrical Installation pre?apprenticeship
An apprenticeship in Electrical Installation (subject to entry requirements)
This course provides a strong starting point for learners aiming to build a career in the electrical industry.
Due to the practical nature of the course, all students will require essential safety equipment, including work trousers and steel toe?cap boots. You will be fully supported by our experienced, trade?qualified tutors to help you achieve your goals.
