The HNC in Electrical Systems Engineering is built around real industry needs. You'll explore everything from digital control systems to electrical machines, with a hands-on, project-driven approach. We know you're balancing life, work, and study, which is why this course is delivered flexibly to fit around your commitments. Alongside our full-time option, we also offer a part-time daytime study route.
This qualification is made up of mandatory core units that are carefully selected to develop your core knowledge, skills, and behaviours in electrical systems engineering. You will explore both theoretical principles and real-world applications to build a broad and deep understanding of the sector.

You'll study full time for one academic year with a mix of classroom, lab and project-based learning. There will be the option to complete a HND after year 1.
To apply, you'll need:
• 96 UCAS points A relevant Level 3 qualification
• GCSE Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)

This course can also be delivered as part of a Higher or Degree Apprenticeship.
The BEng is accredited by the IET on behalf of the Engineering Council. Graduates can apply for professional registration as a Chartered Engineer — giving you greater recognition, credibility, and career potential across the industry.
