Is this course for me?

Access to HE Diplomas are well established national qualifications which allow students without traditional Level 3 qualifications to apply for degree courses and enter university level study. This route is for those who wish to progress on to degrees which will lead to careers in mental health nursing, psychology and related subjects.

What will I study?

Units studied include mental Health and Well being, Dementia Care and Treatment, Psychological Trauma, Personality Theory, Health Promotion and Life Choices

How long is the course?

Monday, Thursday and Friday each week for one year.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is on going and developed through a portfolio of course work. A large proportion of your work will be essay or assignment based but you can also expect exams, presentations and project work.

What qualifications do I need?

You will need GCSE English Grade A* - C / 9-4 plus an interview. No equivalent for English is accepted. GCSE Maths is desirable (if no GCSE, an equivalent will be accepted). Acceptable equivalents for maths are L2 Basic Skills Numeracy, Functional Skills

What can I progress onto?

You can progress onto university to study Mental Health Nursing or related subjects and degree courses in Psychology, Counselling or related subjects.
