Is this course for me?

Access to HE Diplomas are well established, national qualifications which allow students without traditional Level 3 qualifications to apply for degree courses and enter university. The teaching route is for those who wish to progress on to degrees which will lead to careers in teaching in primary, secondary or further education, working in the early years or youth sectors, educational administration or other educational related fields.

What will I study?

The Access to HE Diploma in Teaching covers units drawn from a range of education related topics including Education Studies, English Literature, Psychology, Sociology as well as core Study Skills.

How long is the course?

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week for one year.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is on going and developed through a portfolio of course work. A large proportion of your work will be essay or assignment based but you can also expect exams, presentations and project work.

What qualifications do I need?

You will need to have GCSE English, GCSE Maths and GCSE Science Grade A*-C / 9-4 plus an interview. No equivalent qualifications are accepted other than a GCSE Biology can be accepted instead of GCSE Science.

What can I progress onto?

You can progress onto university to study a degree course in teaching and education.

Other Information

Students will need a clean DBS check in order to pursue careers in teaching / youth work. An Advanced Learning Loan is available for this course.
