What will I study?
In the first year you cover a wide selection of areas in the visual arts, to give you a good overall level of skills, particularly the ability to draw. You have lessons in visual studies and the history of art & design, plus fine art, 3D, textiles, life class and visual studies for example. In the second year you specialise in one of areas of 3D, Textiles or Fine Art. The course structure can allow the qualification to be flexible to meet learners interests, abilities and aspirations. There are five compulsory core units plus a choice of units from a range of professional specialist areas. These units will allow you to build a professional portfolio of work.
How long is the course?
Full time for two academic years.
How will I be assessed?
Work is assignment based and is assessed throughout the course. A range of methods are used including live projects set by 'clients'. You are encouraged to evaluate your own progress through tutorials.
What qualifications do I need?
A minimum of 5 A*-C / 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English and an art related subject.
What can I progress onto?
Onto a professional career or Higher Education, our excellent reputation means the majority of students progress to top UK Universities and achieve high grades.
You will have an opportunity to go on visit, London, Europe, and Galleries; recent trips have included Barcelona and Venice. Student are expected to have an art kit with basic essentials. Course fees shown are per annum (unless indicated otherwise). Courses lasting longer than one year, fees will be payable per year.
