Is this course for me?

From contextual influences and drawing to fine art practices and technique exploration, students will be guided through the ranges of techniques adopted by artists old and new. The multi disciplinary course is designed to develop an undergraduate's skills and knowledge by building a portfolio of creativity and individuality. Students will also showcase their work in prestigious exhibitions held throughout the year. Students will develop critical thinking skills, problem solving and analysis skills that are transferable to a wider range of employment skills.

What will I study?

This course includes units covering: Creative Thinking; Contextual Studies; Contemporary Contextual Studies for Creative Industries; Professional Practice. Specialist units include Image and Context- Research Methods and Project Development; The Creative Practitioner; Investigating Contemporary Art, Studio Practice- Methods and Materials and Drawing.

How long is the course?

Two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

The programme is assessed through a variety of methods including portfolio assessments to project work.

What qualifications do I need?

64 UCAS points. Mature students with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. Students must also possess a Grade C or above in English at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

Successful students will have the opportunity to progress onto BA (Hons) Fine Art at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Students studying on the programme are able to work in professional studios on live art projects and undertake an industry plac
