If you want an exciting career within the world of Media Makeup & Hair then this course is perfect for you. Our highly creative programme of study will provide you with the diverse and exciting knowledge and skills to become a junior hair and make up artist.

What will I study?

The art of photographic makeup,

Following health and safety practice in the salon, Creating an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector, Applying makeup, Body art design, Shaping and colouring eyebrows and applying lashes

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year. All learners will be expected to attend work experience to develop employability skills.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through observation of practical skills and assignments covering the knowledge requirements.

You will be required to build a portfolio, show casing your practical skills and experiences gained on the course.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

Employment within a beauty salon or specialist make up studio. Your industry work placement will be integral in developing skills and building the confidence to gain employment. Career Prospects include Make Up Artist- you can expect to earn over 30K a year as an established make up artist. Other careers include Beauty Therapist, Massage Therapist, Nail Technician, Holistic Therapist, Theatre/TV Makeup Artist, Salon Manager, Electrologist, Aromatherapist, Reflexologist, Technical trainer for product manufacturer, Company sales reps and Teaching.
