Is this course for me?

This level 2 NVQ Diploma in Kitchen Services is designed for learners employed in catering roles or looking to progress into employment in roles such as a kitchen assistant, School or general cook, catering team member or chef, who need to develop or consolidate their skills.

What will I study?

Learners are required to study mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a catering team and maintaining food safety. Learners then have a choice of optional units covering different areas within the kitchen. The wide range of optional units allows learners to choose units to meet the needs of their own work role within the catering environment.

How long is the course?

You will attend College one day per week for one academic year with the remainder of your time in the workplace.

How will I be assessed?

This is a work based learning qualification, which allows you to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in the workplace. Maths and English are a core part of the framework completion.

What qualifications do I need?

A good general education.

What can I progress onto?

The advanced apprenticeship in Hospitality and Catering.
