Is this course for me?

Have you completed one of our baking or desserts courses and want to progress further with your patisserie skills? Or do you have some basic skills and want to develop these further? If either of these apply this course could be for you.

What will I study?

You will study baking including the theory behind yeast and baking, desserts both hot and cold and some introductory chocolate work and cake decorating.

How long is the course?

24 weeks

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through observation of your practical tasks and will complete some written questions. This is an assessed programme.

What qualifications do I need?

No formal entry requirements.

What can I progress onto?

You could progress onto a full time patisserie L3 course in the future.

Other Information

Apron required and shoes/trousers appropriate for a kitchen.

Typical Tasks

  • Plans and co-ordinates kitchen work such as fetching, clearing and cleaning of equipment and utensils.
  • Ensures relevant hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained within the kitchen.

  • Plans menus, prepares, seasons and cooks foodstuffs or oversees their preparation and monitors the quality of finished dishes.
