What will I study?

You will assist in managing the operation of the kitchen, liaising with the Head Chef around menu development, prepare, cook and finish food, monitor quality, stock management to minimise wastage, prepare staff rotas, monitor staff performance and ensure that staff work effectively together. The apprenticeship has four parts: Part 1 A food preparation qualification, Part 2 A technical certificate, Part 3 A food safety certificate, Part 4 Employee rights and responsibility at work

How long is the course?

You will attend College one day per week for one academic year with the remainder of your time in the workplace.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by continuous observations, some assignment and exam work.

What qualifications do I need?

A good general education in which you have certificates for numeracy and literacy.11

What can I progress onto?

If you are successful in completing the apprenticeship you can go on to full time employment. You can also go to complete a level 3 catering and hospitality apprenticeship
