What will I study?

You will assist in managing the operation of the kitchen, liaising with the Head Chef around menu development, prepare, cook and finish food, monitor quality, stock management to minimise wastage, prepare staff rotas, monitor staff performance and ensure that staff work effectively together. The apprenticeship has four part: Part 1 A professional cookery qualification, Part 2 A technical certificate, Part 3 A food safety certificate (if required), Part 4 Employee rights and responsibility at work

How long is the course?

You will attend College one day per week for one academic year with the remainder of your time in the workplace.

How will I be assessed?

Continual practical assessment in the workplace, plus written end tests.

What qualifications do I need?

Level 2 in professional cookery plus employment within the industry.

What can I progress onto?

Promotion within the industry or progress on to a management qualification
