Is this course for me?

The programme is delivered by industry experts and education professionals who have extensive computing knowledge, as well as industrial and commercial experience. Classrooms and computing laboratories are furnished with up-to-date software and networking equipment, to provide the latest technology and university standard resources. T Digital Skills Academy launched in September 2020 with new hardware for robotics, internet of things, connected devices and virtual reality. Students develop their employability skills, while gaining valuable work experience, combining theoretical study with practical experience.

What will I study?

This course includes units: Programming, Networking, Professional Practice, Database Design and Development, Security, Managing a Successful Computing Project, Website Design & Development, Maths for Computing. Additional units include: Computing Research Project; Business Intelligence; Robotics; Internet of Things; Emerging Technologies, Games Design Theory, Games Development.

How long is the course?

Full-time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

The programmes are assessed via a variety of methods, from written assignments and practical work to course work.

What qualifications do I need?

80 UCAS points.Mature students with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. Students must also possess a Grade 4 or above in Maths at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

Employment in software or application development. You may progress to the BSc (Hons) Computing Top-up Degree awarded by UCLan and delivered at the University Centre Wigan & Leigh College.
