Is this course for me?

The Computing Science Professional Honours Programme will prepare you for a career in the dynamic computing science industry.Innovation is at the heart of the programme, so expect to be challenged. You will research, analyse and develop products using live briefs, from retail to financial services.

What will I study?

You will explore the fundamentals of programming as part of the Computing Science A level, which will also cover research data structure and the theory of computation. Alongside the A Level in Computing Science, you will also study Physics, Maths and an additional AS subject in the first year. You will benefit from the Professional Development Day which includes: Extended Project Qualification in year 2, a work placement, professional qualifications, charity work, optional group sessions, including the Debating Society and the iDEA online programme to develop digital skills.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake external examinations and produce coursework

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 8 GCSEs graded 9-5 of which a minimum of 4 GCSEs graded 9-6 (including English, Maths and Science)

What can I progress onto?

We will support you in applying for places at prestigious universities nationwide, or in securing employment in the computer science industry. There are many career prospects available and Games Developers can expect to earn over £50k a year. Other careers include IT Security Engineer, Computing and Systems Manager, Forensic Computer Analyst, Network Engineer, Software Engineer, Ethical Hacker, IT Director and Cloud architect.
