Is this course for me?

The course enables students to gain a HNC through theoretical study at the College's dedicated Centre for Construction & Engineering. The programme prepares students for a range of technical, professional and management careers such as building surveying, building control and construction management. Students will gain underpinning knowledge and understanding of technological, social, legal and economic aspects of construction management.

What will I study?

This course includes units such as: Construction Technology, Science and Materials, Construction Practice & Management, Individual project, Legal and Statutory Responsibilities in Construction, Construction Information, Surveying, Measuring & Setting Out.

How long is the course?

Day release- in one day a week for two years or two evenings a week for two years. the course has two intakes per year. The traditional September start and then again in January. All units are studied over a 16 week semester.

How will I be assessed?

The HNC programme is assessed through a variety of methods, from written assignments to course work.

What qualifications do I need?

A relevant Level 3 Diploma. Mature students with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. Students must also possess a Grade C or above in Maths at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

Alumni students who have studied on a HNC programme have gone on to achieve first class degrees and employment within sectors such as architecture, building and quantity surveying and construction management. This programme is a route for students wanting
