Is this course for me?

This course is designed to provide a route to professional and management careers within the industry. Students will gain both a practical and theoretical understanding of the scientific, mathematical and design principles within Civil Engineering.

What will I study?

The course includes unites such as Construction Technology, Science & Materials, Construction Practice & Management, Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing Specification), Mathematics for Construction, an Individual Project , Principles of Structural Design, Further Mathematics for Construction, Geotechnics and Soil Mechanics and Advanced Structural Design.

How long is the course?

Day release.

How will I be assessed?

The programme is assessed through a variety of methods, from written assignments to course work.

What qualifications do I need?

48 UCAS tariff points. Mature students with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. Students must also possess a Grade C or above in Maths at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

Alumni students who have studied on a HNC programme have gone on to achieve first class degrees and employment within sectors such as architecture, building and quantity surveying and construction management. This programme is a route for students wanting
