Is this course for me?

If you are enthusiastic about fashion and its trends, then this course will enable you to acquire the skills and knowledge to pursue a career within the Fashion industry either by progression to a higher education course or by employment as a junior fashion designer or pattern cutter.

What will I study?

You will develop your skills in Fashion Studies (Fashion Design, Computer Aided Design, Garment Production and Pattern cutting) along with supporting work in Visual Studies, Life Drawing, Textiles and Fashion Illustration). The emphasis of this course is on the application of the fashion skills you will learn and during the course you will develop a personal portfolio of work.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

Work is project based and is assessed throughout the course. A range of methods are used including external projects. You are encouraged to evaluate your own progress using your own initiative and through tutorials.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-C / 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English and an art related subject.

What can I progress onto?

There is an opportunity to progress onto our Degree in Creative Industries and the majority of our students are successful in their first choice HE course at University.

Other Information

You will work in industry standard studios with skilled and experienced professionals. During the course you will visit museums, galleries, fashion shows and be involved in photo shoots and catwalk events. Students should have a basic art kit.
