Is this course for me?

This course offers the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills to give access to a wide range of career opportunities in the floristry industry. It provides the opportunity to develop skills in basic floristry by assembling designs, with support and guidance in practical workshops, coursework and industrial experience.

What will I study?

The course comprises two core units, including work placement, to gain industrial experience and knowledge of the floristry industry and its organisation. You also choose four out of seven specialist units. The three practical units are: assembling floristry designs, floristry designs in a medium and basic display techniques. There are two design units: Interior and exterior design. Other options include: plant identification and use, customer care and plant display techniques.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year.

How will I be assessed?

Skill based assessment and assignments supported by a portfolio of evidence, plus a moderated integrated assignment.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-D / 9-3 GCSE subjects including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

Successful achievement leads to employment within the industry or further courses in this field.

Other Information

The course timetable is structured to permit and encourage work placement and additional seasonal opportunities. The course is enhanced by visits to local and European wholesalers and exhibitions.
